O-RAN System Training

Online, self-paced, pre-recorded course with hands-on simulation and implementation!

Course Overview
The course covers the joint design of technology and ecosystem aspects in Open RAN networks. The technology enablers include open networking, virtualization, HW/SW disaggregation, and network intelligence. It consists of both theoretical and practical parts!

The course discusses Open RAN concepts, architecture, use cases, functions, and interfaces (including Open Fronthaul). The details of the RAN Intelligent Controller (RIC) are elaborated on along with relevant procedures. It also covers 5G topics including network slicing and how it fits into the O-RAN area.

The central point for the standardization of Open RAN is the O-RAN Alliance, but relations with other entities, such as TIP (Telecom Infra Project), and 3GPP are also emphasized.

This course also includes implementation and simulation demonstrations in the xApp and RIC field along with a hands-on part using Open RAN xApp demonstrator!

Finally, the course covers
the implementation tasks within the Open Networking Foundation (ONF) SD-RAN project. This is provided with step-by-step guidance on environment installation and xApp implementation for the μONOS RIC of the ONF's SD-RAN project.

The course is an online, self-paced course with 13.5+ hours of pre-recorded videos.

Who Should Attend?

Participants with a background in either system or network design should benefit from participating. This includes industry, network operators, regulators, managers in this field, researchers, and students in academia.

Prerequisites

The focus is on Open RAN networks and their relation to 5G and participants with a general background in mobile networks will be able to follow the course.

As the course also covers practical hands-on tasks, an experience with the Ubuntu OS, Kubernetes tool, and GO programming language will be helpful.
